Kano State Maternal Death Review Scorecard June – July 2015

This scorecard tracks key maternal  death review (MDR) indicators across hospitals in Kano State.  The indicators in this scorecard are based on Nigeria’s Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) national guidelines.   The scorecard uses facility data from June-July 2015.  Data from some facilities show good progress under MDR meeting and reporting.  However, the scorecard calls for

• review of all maternal deaths in all facilities 
• use of MDR findings to improve maternal health services, with policy makers involvement
• provision of resources to institutionalise MPDSR be made available in Kano State
