Africa.
The Collective unites coalitions of civil society organisations to enhance their efforts, foster support, and a space where members undertake knowledge exchange by sharing tools and best practices and engage in regional and global evidence-based RMNCAH advocacy from local to global levels.
Membership to the Collective encompasses diversity encouraging participation of women and girls-led organizations and other marginalised groups.
Our aim
The MamaYe! Africa Collective envisages an African continent with zero maternal and neonatal mortality. Its mission is to champion grassroots-led initiatives that advocate for access to quality healthcare for women, children and girls in Africa through partnership and movement building.
The Collective’s inaugural Strategic Plan (2025 - 2027) sets out four strategic pillars of focus to achieve its aspirations in ways responsive to the contextual and emerging realities as:
- Advocacy for reduced Maternal and Neonatal Mortality
- Membership growth and movement building
- Partnerships Development
- Institutional Development
Building Strong Foundations
Through MamaYe! Africa Collective, coalitions strengthen their uniquely effective structures, enhancing connectivity to tap into global expertise that would be challenging to attain independently. This collaborative approach empowers coalitions with diverse strengths to learn from one another and benefit from a wealth of global knowledge.
The Collective is registered in Kenya as a non-governmental organisation with plans to establish country chapters in the future. An elected 7- member founding board is leading in institutionalising its foundational structures, policies and membership growth.
Reimagining Partnerships
The MamaYe! Collective pioneers a transformative shift in partnerships between donors and local organisations. This strategic approach aims to shift power to local advocates, providing them with access to resources for responsive initiatives for improved RMNCAH outcomes.
The Collective offers a membership platform for equal representation and welcomes regional networks/coalitions, subnational or national coalitions, and organisations, whether registered or not, that originate from and are involved in RMNCAH work in any African country especially those in the margins of the international development landscape ensuring they can receive equal opportunities and capacity support to meaningfully participate in local, national, regional and global discourse.
