BUNGOMA COUNTY, RMNCAH SCORECARD OCT 2017-MAR 2018

The Ministry of Health in Kenya identifies the RMNCAH scorecard as an important tool in performance management, accountability and strengthening quarterly performance and data reviews. It is also an effective mechanism for providing feedback to stakeholders on performance of the health systems at all levels. The scorecard has provided an opportunity to rally communities and governments to improve the quality of services by highlighting and monitoring performance in service delivery and health systems across the counties.

As a result, E4A Mama Ye rolled out the scorecard in Bungoma County in November 2017 to enrich RMNCAH evidence sources to and enhance advocacy for increased resource allocation to improve quality of care in maternal, newborn and adolescent health in the County. The scorecard has since gained popularity in driving meaningful discussions in County accountability platforms including technical working groups and health Stakeholder Forums.

In July 2018, the County’s work on the RMNCAH scorecard became a benchmark pinpointed for replication by two other counties in Kenya: Makueni and Trans Nzoia. The scorecard has also emerged as an efficient tool for tracking indicators for the THS – UHC (GFF) project. This is a significant milestone for the department of health in Bungoma County.
