The youth clubs strive to challenge the deeply rooted cultural values and beliefs on maternal health, including myths surrounding pregnancy and blood donation.In Mchinji district, these clubs are at Pitala Primary School in Kalulu Zone, Sopa CDSS in Mikundi zone and Pinda Primary school in Pinda zone.
These clubs have a total population of about 90 boys and girls that are spearheading the local campaign for saving mothers and babies around their communities and schools. For MamaYe clubs in schools, the core objective is to help young people develop their knowledge on maternal and newborn health (MNH) and also using this knowledge to interact with their peers and the larger community.

In order to engage young people in the MamaYe club and campaign, the clubs have been provided with balls and other items like t-shirts. The footballs and the netballs are meant not only to keep youths busy but also to use them as a mobilization tool.In rural Malawi, football and netball games draw large crowds and it is therefore envisaged that whenever they organize such games they should also utilize such forums to sensitize the people on different MNH issues. MamaYe clubs are also in Ntchisi, Kasungu, Ntcheu, Balaka and Mangochi districts.
