MamaYe launched in Freetown on Friday, May 17. It was an exciting day that boosted over 390 participants, featuring:speeches from the Deputy Ministers of Finance and Health,a musical performance by one of the best hip hop artists in the country, Kao Denero,a renowned human rights activist, Ms. Yasmin Jusu-Sheriff, as our chairwoman, anda keynote speech from the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma.Over 50 people donated blood which is important to ensuring clinics are safe. We had over 10 excited and well organized student volunteers that helped set up the hall, acted as ushers and usherettes and assisted in various administrative tasks. Africell showed their support to MamaYe by printing over 200 t-shirts with MamaYe messaging on safe clinics, printing 8 standup banners, a backdrop that highlighted MamaYe champions while also providing sound system for the launch. MamaYe is grateful to Africell for their tremendous support!MamaYe belongs to the people of Sierra Leone and was embraced as such as ten leading media houses attended the event that was broadcasted nation-wide through radio, print and television.A Big THANK YOU from the MamaYe team!
