THE FIT MOMENTUM

MamaYe plays an integral role in not only the assessment part of FIT but also in sharing the results with all stakeholders, from government/policy makers, to local councils and of course to the general public.
The Facilities Improvement Tracking (FIT), although seemingly technical in that 13 hospitals and 65 community health centers – 5 per district, roughly one per chiefdom – are assessed quarterly, is also very much about the PEOPLE. About the people in that every Sierra Leonean must understand the 7 primary components that the government has identified to track progress of health facilities in their capability to provide emergency are for pregnant women and their babies. The 7 identified categories, or enablers, are: water and sanitation, electricity, drugs and supplies, staffing, laboratory, equipment and referrals and grading is based on a traffic light system. MamaYe plays an integral role in not only the assessment part of FIT but also in sharing the results with all stakeholders, from government/policy makers, to local councils and of course to the general public. Dr. Mohammed Yilla, MamaYe Sierra Leone’s Country Director and Momodu Maligi, Honorable Minister of Water Resources talk through the updated FIT score cards, discussing ways to keep up the momentum for facilities that have achieved green status for water in particular and strengthening facilities that have yet to reach green. For more information see updated data for BemONC and CemONC.
