#StrongerwithPHC: Reflecting on the Astana Commitments

On 26th October 2020, the world marked the second anniversary of the Astana Declaration. This is a key milestone to reflect on global leaders’ commitment to invest in primary health care (PHC) services, at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is testing the resilience of health systems everywhere.

Options Consultancy Services through our Evidence for Action (E4A) -MamaYe programme is part of the vibrant PHCPI – led global partnership called ‘Allies improving PHC’. This is a cross-country platform that brings together global and local organisations that are passionate about catalysing primary health care improvements.

Astana+2: Stronger with PHC Campaign

As a proud ally in improving PHC, we share the belief that primary health care is critical to keeping people safe and healthy. Across sub-Saharan Africa, more than 550 women die each day from preventable causes related to pregnancy. E4A-MamaYe works to save the lives of mothers and babies, which starts with strong primary health care services for all.

We joined other Allies in the #StrongerwithPHC campaign. In a video, Lucia Laboso (E4A-Mama Ye Country Lead in Kenya) calls on governments to honour their commitment to build resilient health systems by investing in Primary Health Care Services for all that will stand the highly-demanding test of COVID-19 and beyond.
