Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism
Kaduna State Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM) was established in year 2015. KADMAM is a co-creation mechanism that has over membership drawn from government, civil society organisations and the media. The goal of KADMAM is to contribute to the improvement of maternal and child health care services in Kaduna State by the year 2027.
Priority areas of focus
KADMAM engages in advocacy, evidence generation, sensitisation, capacity building, media engagement, resource mobilization for advocacy initiatives and outreach activities.
In the past KADMAM robust evidence driven engagements have led to:
Policies such as Kaduna State Health Policy, MNCH policy and Health Financing Policy
Participation and presentation during town hall and public hearing on the state budget among others
Employment of about 1025 staff in different categories of the health sector in the state
Government renovated and upgraded 255 ward facilities across Kaduna state and committed to select 255 more facilities
Increased funding for Routine Immunization in the state.
Institutionalization of quarterly #Open Kaduna Health Sector Dialogue
Increment of State Health Budget from 11% and above 15% presently (2022)
Development of Routine Immunization Scorecard for the state
CSOs involvement in strengthening WDCs
