June 14, 2016 World Blood Donor Day is being marked in Dodoma. From the beginning of this month there has been targeted blood drivers involving companies and organisations around the country where employees donated blood. In Dar es Salaam the Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda has urged the residents to be an example for donating the biggest number of units of blood.
Throughout the country public figures, politicians and members of the public are donating blood. On behalf of National Blood Transfusion Services, the Mama Ye! campaign is urging all who are able to donate blood to save lives of those in need, especially mothers and babies. In Tanzania the single largest cause of maternal deaths is haemorrhaging. Should there be ready blood supply in health centres many lives could be saved.

- Ilala Mchikichini near the Msimbazi Centre
- Mnazi Mmoja Hospital
- Mbagala Hospital
- Temeke Hospital
- Amana Hospital
- Mwananyamala Hospital
- Mbweni Hospital, and
- Vijibweni Hospital
Donations will start from 7:30 am to 3:30pm
