MamaYe partners Media Trust on maternal and newborn health

MamaYe has strengthened its partnership with media houses to improve coverage and delivery of evidence-supported maternal and newborn health in the news.

MamaYe, a campaign to improve survival of women and children across sub-Sahara Africa, has solicited the support of Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust  titles towards using evidence based approach in health advocacy and accountability.

Speaking when he led a delegation to Media Trust Headquarters, yesterday in Abuja, Country Director of Evidence for Action, Dr Tunde Segun, said the potentials of the media has not been fully tapped as it relates to health.

According to him, evidence-based reporting can shape the lives of Nigerians.He said it is important for health reports to be backed with evidence in order to make it thought-provoking and make the people and stakeholders accountable to act. 

The country director explained that MamaYe has selected Daily Trust titles including its Hausa language version Aminiya as partners for evidence-based reporting. 

He said the organisation will soon unveil an Investigative Journalism Fellowship to champion deep reporting of health matters.
