The Malawi College of Medicine of the University of Malawi, held a Research Dissemination Conference at their main campus in Blantyre, on 20-21 November 2015.
The conference was the 19th in series held annually and this year it was held under the theme "Addressing the Double Threat of Non-communicable and Communicable Diseases in Malawi".
These conferences are organized to share findings from research studies to keep researchers, the public and policy makers informed of current activities relevant to human health in Malawi. During the conference, researchers and all stakeholders discussed research findings through exhibitions, oral and poster presentations. The presentations mainly focused on areas like:
- Communicable diseases
- Health systems
- HIV and AIDS
- Malaria
- Maternal and child health
- Non-communicable diseases
- Tuberculosis
Parent And Child Health Initiative (PACHI) had a poster presentation of the Village Blood Collection model, a powerful community mobilization strategy under MamaYe campaign, used to collect the much needed blood to address the problem of shortage of blood in hospitals countrywide.
MamaYe also had a pavilion where all its campaign activities like MamaYe clubs, Activism and cMDSR drew a rare audience attention and spark interesting discussions.
