The purpose of the scorecards was to assess the performance of the government of Bauchi State in maternal and newborn health care delivery. With the support from MamaYe, the Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for Maternal and Newborn Health (BaSAM), did a public presentation of scorecards on Maternal and Newborn Health and Health Budget for the year 2016.
Although Bauchi State did not meet the WHO's per capita health budget of $86, the State performed well by allocating more than 15% of its budget to health, thereby championing the call to meet the Abuja declaration of allocation of 15% of Federal/State consolidated budget to health.
The scorecard also shows that in 2016, Bauchi State involved stakeholders in health budget process, which promoted participation and partnership.The Permanent Secretary, Bauchi State Ministry of Health, Dr. Saidu Gital, represented the Health Commissioner at the dissemination of the scorecards.
